Major General Edward M. Lewis

Commander 30th Division

NameThe seventh commander of 30th Division, Lewis was a West Point classmate of Pershing and described as a "model commander." He impressed Pershing by leading a 2nd Division brigade during the attack on Belleau Wood. With the 30th, he guided the southern troops during the Ypres-Lys, Hindenburg Line and Selle River Campaigns.
